I try to approach people and photo shoots in a relaxed and accepting way. Knowing what my client wants is most helpful, both in terms of the actual photo shoot and the types of pictures we end up with.

Modern innovation and the latest technology allow photo shoots to be much more active and spontaneous than our forebears could have ever imagined. If you can’t get excited about two hours of posing in a windowless room, how about a picnic at the beach or frosting some cupcakes?

Cupcakes are, in my experience, distinguished by the quality of their ingredients and with a photo shoot the key ingredients are the location, narrative, styling (clothes and props), light, and mood.

Most important of all is that people enjoy the experience of being photographed, because that’s what gives the pictures their unique emotional character.
